(PALO ALTO, Calif.) -- A man who escaped custody after being arrested on the Stanford campus early Thursday morning is back in police custody.

Scott Foster, 37, was reportedly arrested on campus by Stanford police around 1:30 a.m. following a report of his alleged involvement in a domestic incident with his girlfriend. Foster was placed in a police car in handcuffs, but somehow managed to escape from the vehicle, reports ABC's San Francisco affiliate KGO-TV.

Police said shortly before 6 a.m. the suspect was spotted walking off campus and was taken into custody without incident.
