Officials Reveal Plan for NY Artist's 'Bay Lights' on Bay Bridge
(SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.) -- Local officials and dignitaries released a plan Tuesday to light up the Bay Bridge with what a New York artist is calling "Bay Lights," ABC affiliate KGO-TV reports.
Crews will attach about 25,000 LED lights to the suspension cables on the western span. Artist Leo Villareal said the lights will vary in brightness and create patterns of light that never repeat.
The light display, which costs $8 million and is funded by private donations, will be turned on in March and will stay up for two years.
