Search Called Off for Mountain Lion that Attacked Camper

(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) -- The search for the mountain lion that attacked a camper in Nevada County earlier in July, has been called off.

The California Department of Fish and Game announced on Tuesday that after searching for the female mountain lion since the July 1 attack, the trail has gone cold and officials have decided to end the search.

A 63-year-old man from Marin County was camping along Shady Creek northwest of Nevada City, when he was attacked by the animal during the early-morning hours.
