Teen Arrested on Felony DUI and Hit-and-Run Charges

(SAN FRANCISCO) -- Police say a teenager was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and hit-and-run after fleeing the scene of a fatal crash in the Bayview District Friday night, ABC affiliate KGO-TV reports.

Daniel Lara, 18, was arrested after the single-vehicle crash that occurred around 7:55 p.m. near the intersection of Griffith Street and Thomas Avenue. Lara was driving a four-door gray Honda Civic. His passenger, 19-year-old Eduardo Perez, was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lara fled in the Honda and abandoned it after about a mile. He later returned to the scene of the crash and was arrested.
