Woman's Body Found on Oakland Highway

(OAKLAND, Calif.) -- Police are investigating after a woman's body was found on an Oakland highway, ABC affiliate KGO-TV reports.

The body was discovered around 1:30 a.m. Friday on the Highway 13 on-ramp at Mountain Boulevard and Joaquin Miller Road. The woman had been shot, but details of her death remain unclear.

"We don't get a lot of calls up here. If we do, they're not something similar to this," Oakland police officer E. Perez-Angeles said.

The victim's name has not yet been released.
