(AMES, Iowa) -- Naadir Tharpe scored a career-high 23 points to lead No. 15 Kansas past No. 8 Iowa State 77-70 on Monday night.
The loss is Iowa State's second in a row after starting the season 14-0.
The game was tied at halftime but Kansas opened up the second half with a 16-5 runs and never looked back.
Freshman phenom Andrew Wiggins scored 17 points for the Jayhawks (12-4, 3-0 Big 12) who have won three straight.
"I had a talk with my father," Wiggins told ESPN when explaining how he grabbed a career-high 19 boards. "He told me to just stay aggressive and that rebounding is the key so that's what I focused on."
Joel Embiid added nine boards to help Kansas out-rebound Iowa State 53-36.
DeAndre Kane scored a team-high 21 points for the Cyclones (14-2, 2-2 Big 12) in the loss.
