(DURHAM, N.C.) -- With 4:06 left in the game, Duke watched their 11-point lead disappear, but guard Rasheed Sulaimon's 3-pointer with 18.8 seconds remaining put the Blue Devils back on top, as No. 23 Duke survives Virginia 69-65 on Monday night.
Sulaimon scored a game-high 21 points, making sure Duke (13-4, 2-2 ACC) avoided losing for the third time in four games.
Duke was playing with its lowest ranking since February 2007.
"Win or lose, we're in the top 10, we're not in the top 10, we're this, we're that, we're a disappointment or whatever," Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "I have a good basketball team (and) my kids played their hearts out tonight. We're just going to keep moving on and really we'll be immune to praise or criticism because we'll be our own best self-critics."
Amile Jefferson had 10 points and 15 boards in the win.
Malcolm Brogdon led the Cavaliers with 17 points in the loss.
Virginia (12-5, 3-1) has still never won a game at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
