Report: Palmer Accepts $5 Million Pay Cut (TEST TEST TEST)

(OAKLAND, Calif.) -- Carson Palmer took a $5 million pay to play with the Oakland Raiders this season, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Palmer, who was acquired by the Raiders in exchange for a 2012 first-round pick and a conditional first-rounder in 2013, was set to make a prorated figure of $7.44 million this year. According to Schefter, Palmer accepted a pay cut that will see him earn $2.5 for the rest of the season.

The Raiders also guaranteed $5 of his $12.5 million contract next season after potentially giving up two first round picks -- the 2013 pick becomes a first-rounder if the Raiders make it to the AFC Championship Game this season.

Palmer, 31, has yet to play this season after demanding a trade from the Bengals during the summer. The nine-year veteran passed for 3,970 yards with 26 touchdowns and 20 interceptions in 2010.

Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher admitted he didn't really know anything about the London culture, "I'm so not cultured when it comes to that stuff.  I'm going to have fun in my room I guess watching TV."

"I feel very happy, I feel that justice was done," said Hopkins on Thursday.

Sources: Ponder to Get Start Against Packers (TEST TEST TEST DRAFT DRAFT DRAFT)

(MINNESOTA) -- Minnesota Vikings Head Coach Leslie Frazier has told first round draft pick Christian Ponder that he will be getting the nod over veteran Donovan McNabb on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

McNabb has struggled under center in Minnesota ranking 29th in the league in touchdowns, 26th in in yards passing, and 19th in completion percentage.

Ponder was taken 12th overall in the 2011 NFL Draft and made his debut in the fourth quarter Sunday Night during the Vikings 39-10 loss to the Chicago Bears.  When called upon, Ponder went 9 for 17 for 99 yards.

On Monday, Frazier said he wasn't interested in rotating quarterbacks in and out, which most likely puts McNabb on the sidelines for the rest of the remaining season.

World Series Game 1 Preview (TEST TEST TEST DRAFT DRAFT DRAFT)

(ST. LOUIS) -- Game 1 of the 2011 World Series will get under way Wednesday night in St. Louis.  Chris Carpenter will be taking the ball for the Cardinals opposed by the Rangers C.J. Wilson.

Carpenter will be looking for a franchise record eighth career postseason win.  In his only previous World Series start, Carpenter pitched eight shutout innings to win Game 3 of the 2006 Fall Classic.  C.J. Wilson will be making his third straight playoff Game 1 start.  He has struggled this postseason, sitting at (0-2) with an ERA over eight.  In his one previous World Series start in last year's Fall Classic against the Giants, he pitched six innings in Game 2 giving up two runs on three hits in six innings for the loss.

Rangers Owner Nolan Ryan has already added fuel to the fire during a radio interview this week he said that the Rangers would win the World Series in six games.  "Our focus is forward on doing our thing, Nolan has had nothing but confidence in our organization since he took over and I'll stand behind whatever he said," said Wilson.

There have been questions regarding Chris Carpenter's pitching elbow.  "He finished really strong and he's been getting treatment and I put his hand on the Bible a couple days ago and the trainers and doctors feel he is good to go," said Cardinals Manager Tony La Russa.

First pitch of Game 1 is schedule for 8:05 PM Eastern Time.
