Tebow Enjoying Success In Denver

Al Messerschmidt/Getty Images(DENVER) -- Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is riding a wave of momentum in the Mile High City.

Since taking over for Kyle Orton under center earlier this season, the 24-year-old Tebow is 6-1 as a starter with 9 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing TDs.  In his first 10 career NFL starts, the former Florida Gator has five game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime.

“I honestly don’t care necessarily too much of how we got to do it, or how many times we throw it or all the rest of the statistics,” Tebow said. “The way we look at it, is a win is a win.”

Critics question whether the former Heisman Trophy winner can maintain his success, despite not being a prototypical NFL quarterback. Tebow says he's not bothered by those who question his playmaking ability.

“The great thing is I don’t have to listen to what other people say,” Tebow explained. “That’s something I learned a long time ago.”

Tebow and the Broncos will welcome the Chicago Bears to Denver this Sunday afternoon in a Week 14 showdown.

Buehrle Signs With Miami Marlins: Report

BananaStock/Thinkstock(DALLAS) -- The Miami Marlins continued their free agent shopping spree Wednesday, signing four-time All-Star pitcher Mark Buehrle to a four-year deal worth $58 million, according to ESPN.

The 32-year-old Buehrle comes over from the Chicago White Sox, where he has won 10 games or more in each of the last 11 seasons. He will reunite with former White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, now the new skipper of the Marlins.

“When I talked to them about my contract, they were saying, we are going to build a great ballclub,” Guillen said. “Lot of people, when we come to the (baseball’s winter) meeting, they thought it was kind of fake. Now they show people it’s for real and I’m very excited.”

Buehrle becomes the third marquee free agent to sign with the Marlins this offseason, joining shortstop Jose Reyes and closer Heath Bell.

Nets Coach OK with Williams Opt-Out

New Jersey Nets/NBA(EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.) -- New Jersey Nets head coach Avery Johnson has no problem with All-Star point guard Deron Williams opting out of his contract after the season.

"He just wanted to really put it to bed in terms of what he was thinking," Johnson told reporters this week.  "It makes sense for him to do exactly what he's doing obviously, with the rule changing a little bit.  But again we're just excited that he's happy to be here."

Under the NBA's new collective bargaining agreement, Williams has the opportunity to sign a more lucrative contract if he opts out. Speaking to WFAN radio in New York earlier this week, Williams, who was acquired last season from the Utah Jazz, said there is a "90 percent" chance he will re-sign with the Nets.

Marlins Officially Introduce Reyes

Florida Marlins/MLB(DALLAS) - On Wednesday at baseball's winter meetings, the Miami Marlins officially introduced shortstop Jose Reyes, who has agreed to a six-year deal with the club. The Marlins have also offered free agent first baseman Albert Pujols a contract, and Reyes talked about the possibility of playing with the nine-time All Star.

"Everybody wants to play with Pujols, you know, but I don't make that decision," Reyes told reporters. "We still have a very good first baseman on our team right now.  It's Gabby Sanchez.  He's a very good player.  The other thing, I can't control it."

Reyes, who said he felt wanted by the Marlins, said Miami's new stadium, the weather, and Miami's close proximity to his native Dominican Republic were all factors in the former New York Met's choosing the Marlins.

David Ortiz Will Accept Arbitration, Return To Red Sox: Report

G Fiume/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Big Papi is staying in Beantown. According to ESPNDeportesLosAngeles.com, designated hitter David Ortiz is expected to accept salary arbitration from the Boston Red Sox.

Last season, Ortiz earned $12.5 million and could get a 1-year contract worth as much as $15 million in arbitration. According to sources, the team offered Ortiz a 2-year $18 million contract, but pulled the offer prior to offering arbitration to Ortiz.

The 36-year old Ortiz has spent 14 seasons in the major leagues, and has spent the past nine in Boston. Texans Will Reportedly Sign Quarterback Jeff Garcia

NFL Photos/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The Houston Texans will reportedly sign a former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback -- and no, it's not Donovan McNabb. After cutting quarterback Kellen Clemens, the team will will sign 41-year old Jeff Garcia according to reports. Garcia last appeared in the NFL back in the 2009 season, but hasn't thrown a pass since the 2008 season.

Garcia will join a Texans team that has had its top two quarterbacks lost to injury, and have had to turn to a rookie to salvage its season. The Texans are desperate for quarterback production, as the team is tied with the best record in the AFC at 9-3.

The team has started three different quarterbacks in its last three games, and perhaps even more surprisingly, the Texans won every game.

Along with Yates, Garcia will join fellow newcomer Jake Delhomme to round out the team's quarterback roster.

Resigning Jimmy Rollins Is the Phillies' Top Priority

Jamie Squire/Getty Images(PHILADELPHIA) -- Despite reports the team had focused its attention to third baseman Aramis Ramirez, the Philadelphia Phillies top priority for the rest of the offseason is resigning longtime shortstop Jimmy Rollins.

The problem though, is that the 33-year old Rollins reportedly wants a 5-year deal, while the Phillies are reluctant to even go past three years. There have been reports that the St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers have also shown interest in Rollins. Rollins' agent, Dan Lozano, has twice met with the Phillies at the winter meetings. The first meeting reportedly didn't go well, but the second was more positive.

"The theme remains the same: Jimmy wants to remain a Phillie, I think," Phillies general Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said. "The Phillies want Jimmy Rollins to be their shortstop. I think it's just like everything else, we're just working to get there."

Rollins has spent his entire 11 year career with the Phillies, and won the National League MVP trophy during his 2007 season.

Brett Favre Not Playing for Bears -- Or Any Team -- This Season

Gregory Shamus/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Number four won't be suiting up this season, no matter how many starting quarterbacks go down. Despite speculation, quarterback Brett Favre will not come out of retirement this season under any circumstances.

There were reports that Favre would be interested in playing for the Bears, who would replace injured quarterback Jay Cutler. Favre apparently had said that if the Bears called him, he would listen. That call won't be coming. Despite the reports, Favre is enjoying retirement.

"Inspite of reports about playing with various teams, I'm enjoying retirement with my family and have no plans to play football," Favre said in a statement Tuesday night.

Speculation began over Favre's possible return to the field since the Bears have gone 0-2 without Cutler. Since Favre won't be coming to the Windy City, Caleb Hanie will remain the team's starting quarterback. Hanie has completed fewer than 50 percent of his passes, and has a quarterback rating of just 40.8.
