Allen Iverson Receives Offer to Play Professional Soccer

National Basketball Association(NEW YORK) -- Former NBA MVP and scoring champion Allen Iverson is trying to get back to the NBA, but if that doesn't work out he could find his future in another sport if he wants.

The Rochester Lancers of the Major Indoor Soccer League issued a press release saying they will offer Iverson $20,000 per game to play in the team's final two home games this season. Along with his game checks, Iverson would receive a $5,000 bonus for every goal he scores.

"Allen Iverson is one of the premier athletes of our time," said Lancers vice president Rich Randall. "With his athleticism and competitive hunger, I think he can be a great fit for our team and fans as we make an important playoff push, while also driving interest to an exciting, growing sport."

The 36-year-old Iverson last played in the NBA during the 2009-2010 when he played 28 games for the Memphis Grizzlies and Philadelphia 76ers.
