Blue Jays Manager John Farrell Shoots Down Red Sox Rumors

Brad White/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Since the firiing of manager Bobby Valentine, rumors have swirled over who the next manager of the Boston Red Sox will be. Toronto Blue Jays manager John Farrell's name has popped up in those rumors, but he's denying any interest.

The Red Sox and Blue Jays are both coming off disappointing seasons. Under Farrell, the Jays went 73-89 while the Red Sox went 69-93 under Valentine.

"I'm extremely challenged, happy as the manager of the Toronto Blue Jays," Farrell said in an interview with MLB Network Radio. "But its obvious that there's a vacancy to fill there and they're going about their interview process as it is. Nothing has been communicated directly to me. If the Red Sox have contacted Alex [Anthopoulos], I'm unaware of that. Where it stands is what I said: [I'm] the manager of the Toronto Blue Jays."

In two seasons with the Blue Jays, Farrell has gone 154-170.

The Red Sox have already interviewed at least Brad Ausmus and Tim Wallach for the vacant position.
