Brendan Haywood Waived by the Dallas Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks/NBA(DALLAS) -- The Dallas Mavericks used their amnesty clause on Thursday to say goodbye to center Brendan Haywood.

Under the new CBA, each NBA team was given a one-time provision in cutting loose a player without their contract counting against their salary cap or luxury tax.

Haywood averaged 5.4 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game in 154 games with Dallas. He was part of the Mavs' championship run in 2011.
