(TAMPA, Fla.) -- Doug Martin's 2013 season is over.
The team announced Friday that they have placed the second-year running back on injured reserve. Martin has missed the past two games with a torn labrum in his shoulder.
Martin injured his shoulder while attempting to catch a pass in an Oct. 20 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Both he and the Buccaneers had hoped he could return at some point this season, but the team ultimately decided to shut him down.
Rookie Mike James has filled in for Martin, and he could continue to start for the remainder of the year.
In six games, Martin rushed 127 times for 456 yards and one touchdown for the winless Buccaneers.
