(ST. LOUIS) -- One of the most successful sports franchises in recent years has rewarded their own as the St. Louis Cardinals announced they've given general manager John Mozeliak with a two-year extension.
Mozeliak has been with the Cardinals for 19 seasons, spending the last six as the team's general manager.
During Mozeliak's tenure as the team's general manager, the Cardinals have advanced to the postseason four times, won two National League Pennants, and one World Series Championship.
"I think what we've been able to accomplish here is something we all take a lot of pride in, but we also know every year is a new year and every year has new challenges," Mozeliak said. "I think that's the exciting thing about working with this group. It's innovative, it's creative and it's not looking back. It's about looking forward."
Among the things Mozeliak has accomplished aside from the team's performance, Mozeliak has negotiated contracts for key players like Matt Holliday, Yadier Molina, Adam Wainwright, Allen Craig, and Matt Carpenter.
