CC Sabathia Staying in New York

(NEW YORK) -- New York Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia announced on Monday that he will be staying in pinstripes.  He had until midnight Tuesday to opt out of the remaining four years of his seven-year deal. Instead, he reached a new deal.

Through his personal Twitter account, Sabathia tweeted, "Yankee fans, I'll be here fighting for number 28 next year!"

The new deal adds $30 million to his existing contract, reports ESPN.  The new total deal is now for five years at $122 million.  In 2016,  the final year of the contract, Sabathia will be paid $25 million with a vesting option for $25 million in 2017 and a $5 million buyout.
