Celtics' Paul Pierce Considering Leaving Boston After Contract Expires

Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- For 14 years, forward Paul Pierce has been a core member of the Boston Celtics. Even though he's one of the greatest to put on a Celtics uniform, he may be open to finishing his career for another team.

"I think I am going to play this one out," Pierce told the Boston Globe when asked about his current deal which expires after the 2013-2014 season. "I want to see what it feels like to be a free agent for once in my life. I think I am going to play this one out. A lot can change in two years. My body (may not) be where I want it to be, I could retire, a lot of things could happen. It's not about the money at this point. I love the game. I made as much money as I possibly can. It's about winning a championship."

Pierce was drafted tenth overall by the Celtics in the 1998 NBA Draft. During that time, he's made numerous All-Star teams, and was the NBA Finals MVP when the Celtics won the NBA Title during the 2007-2008 season.

The 34-year old Pierce has averaged 22.0 points per game for his career. He is 25th all-time in NBA history for total points scored.
