Chargers' Manti Te'o Returns to Practice

Kent Horner/Getty Images(SAN DIEGO) -- It looks like San Diego Chargers linebacker Manti Te'o is getting closer and closer to making his NFL debut as the rookie recently returned to practice for the first time since August.

"It's been a long time and it's definitely a learning process," said Te'o. "But I'm glad I'm at the stage where I am right now and we're going to get better every day."

Back on August 8, Te'o injured his right foot and has been out of action since.

He played in just nine preseason plays prior to the regular season, but had been in a walking boot for the remainder of camp.

Te'o was the Chargers' second-round pick in the 2013 draft. He is expected to upgrade a shaky Chargers defense that ranks 31st in the NFL.

"I think we are all happy to have him back out there," Chargers head coach Mike McCoy said. "That's why we picked him where we did, we wanted him to be part of the team on game day."

McCoy has yet to announce whether or not Te'o will play on Sunday.
