Chicago Cubs Place SP Ryan Dempster On 15-Day DL

Ron Vesely/MLB Photos via Getty Images(CHICAGO) -- The Chicago Cubs placed starting pitcher Ryan Dempster on the 15-day disabled list Monday with tightness in his right lat muscle. This will be Dempster’s second stint on the DL this season. He was out of action back in April with a right quad strain.

The 35-year-old Dempster is 3-3 on the year with a 2.11 ERA. He has struck out 66 batters in 81 innings of work.

The Cubs recalled left-hander Scott Maine from Triple-A Iowa to take Dempster’s spot on the roster.
