Chiefs' Brady Quinn Named Starter Against Bucs

Leon Halip/Getty Images(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) -- Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel will not participate in Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers thanks to a concussion. Instead Brady Quinn will start for the first time in an NFL game since the 2009 season. Head coach Romeo Crennel has faith in Quinn.

"I'm confident he knows the system. He's been with us," Crennel said. "He's as ready as he's going to be, and that's not going to change in a few days."

Quinn has been taking repetitions with the first team in practice all week and is focused on the Buccaneers.

"I'm still just preparing and staying ready," Quinn said. "One of the biggest differences for me is you get to practice more instead of taking more mental reps, so that's an advantage."

Ricky Stanzi will serve as the backup to Quinn on Sunday while Cassel continues to recover.  Doctors have not cleared Cassel for contact yet.
