Crisp's Walk-Off Lifts Oakland Past Seattle

Jason O. Watson/Getty Images(OAKLAND, Calif.) -- Coco Crisp launched a solo homerun to leadoff the bottom of the 12th, giving Oakland a 3-2 win over Seattle on Thursday. Umpires met briefly to review the play, but quickly confirmed the walk-off.

"I was just going up there to swing as hard as I could," said Crisp, who recorded his sixth career walk-off hit. "Probably nine times out of 10, I ended up with a strikeout with that approach. Tonight was that one time that it ended up working out."

The Athletics (2-2) trailed 2-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning before Sam Fuld tripled to deep center field, scoring Nick Punto. Fuld was thrown out at the plate trying to stretch the hit into an inside-the-park homerun. Oakland then tied things up in the eighth when Crisp scored on a Yoenis Cespedes triple.

Seattle (3-1) starter Roenis Elias pitched five innings of one-run ball before the bullpen gave up the lead. The Mariners used six pitchers in relief before Hector Noesi (0-1) came on to begin the 12th, giving up the homerun.

Four different Oakland pitchers combined to toss six one-hit innings in relief of Jesse Chavez. Drew Pomeranz (1-0) picked up the win for the Athletics with a perfect top half of the 12th.
