(CHICAGO) -- LeBron James may have four MVP trophies and two championship rings, but Derrick Rose still thinks he's the best player in the NBA.
The Chicago Bulls point guard was asked by CNN's Pedro Pinto in an interview who the best player in the NBA is right now.
"Derrick Rose," the 24-year-old said without hesitation.
Rose has been recovering from a torn ACL for over a year now, suffering the injury in the 2012 playoffs. He missed the entire 2012-13 season, but is on track to return on opening night this year.
Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau thinks Rose will have no problem getting back into the flow of an NBA season.
"There will be an adjustment period, but I'm not anticipating there being any problems," Thibodeau said last week. "His overall strength is terrific. He's put a lot of work into his body. I know he's anxious to get out there and play. He's played some pickup but not a lot, but he feels great, and that's the most important thing."
The 2011 NBA MVP averaged 21.0 points and 6.8 assists in four seasons with the Bulls before getting hurt.
