Dickey Wins 18th As Mets Tame Cardinals, 6-2
Daniel Shirey/Getty Images(ST. LOUIS) -- R.A. Dickey became the first pitcher in Major League Baseball to win 18 games this season Wednesday, as the New York Mets tamed the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-2.
The 37-year-old Dickey allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings of work. He walked one while striking out five.
The Mets received a boost of offense courtesy of first baseman Ike Davis’ three-run home run in the fifth, his 26th homer of the season.
