ESPN: Lions to Interview Mike Munchak

Scott Boehm/Getty Images(NEW YORK) --  Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak will interview with the Detroit Lions on Friday for their head coaching vacancy, according to ESPN and media reports.

Munchak was fired by the Titans following a 7-9 record in 2013.  He spent 31 years with the franchise as both a player and a coach.

Former Titans offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains will accompany Munchak to the interview.

The 53-year-old Munchak has also interviewed for the coaching vacancy at Penn State, according to sources.

San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt remains the front-runner to be named the next head coach of the Lions.

The Lions fired former head coach Jim Schwartz after a 7-9 season.  They lost six of their final seven games to miss the playoffs, despite a talented roster.
