(TALLAHASSEE, Fla.) -- Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston was given a civil citation after sheriff’s deputies says he left a supermarket without paying for crab legs and crawfish worth $32.
According to Leon County Shefiff’s Office Maj. Michael Wood, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner ordered seafood at the deli counter of a Publix in the Tallahassee, Fla-area on Tuesday night. After receiving the food, he departed the store without paying.
Wood says deputies went to Winston’s apartment, where he acknowledged he did not pay for the food, because he forgot.
Winston will likely have to pay restitution to Publix for the cost of food as well as perform at least 20 hours of community service.
