Gasol Comes Up Big Against Boston

Los Angeles Lakers/NBA(BOSTON) -- It came down to the wire at TD Garden on Thursday night between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics.

In fact, it needed an extra quarter just to decide a winner. The Lakers (15-11) team can thank Pau Gasol for his last second block on Ray Allen in overtime for their 88-87 victory over Boston. Allen's shot came right after Paul Pierce's shot rimmed out, which landed in Allen's hands.

Boston (14-11) did have a chance to win the game in regulation, but Pierce couldn't find an open man and tossed it to Mickael Pietrus who launched a three-pointer wide left.

Gasol had 25 points, 14 rebounds in the win.

"I've been in situations before in my career where you freeze...catch yourself looking at the ball and end up losing the game," said Gasol on the last second shot by Allen.

"I was in the perfect position," Allen said, "and he came out of nowhere."

Kobe Bryant chipped in 27 points of his own and Andrew Bynum added 16 points and 17 rebounds for the Lakers.
