Hawks' Guard Lou Williams Out for Season with Torn ACL

NBA via Atlanta Hawks(ATLANTA) -- The Atlanta Hawks offense has taken a major hit.  Point guard Lou Williams will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.

Williams tore the ligament in Friday night's loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Williams stole the ball in the second quarter when he started to drive to the to the basket, his leg appeared to give out when he attempted to plant and take the shot.

"It's certainly devastating to us to lose Lou," Hawks head coach Larry Drew said.

"You hope for a fast and speedy recovery but you have to move on," Drew added. "I'm expecting the guys to respond to this, I really am. This is just another test for us as a team and me as a coach."

Williams, an Atlanta native, was in his first season with the Hawks after spending the first seven seasons of his career with the Philadelphia 76ers. Williams served as the team's primary scoring threat off the bench, averaging over 14 points per game this season for the Hawks.
