(LOS ANGELES) -- LeBron James scored 39 points to lead the Miami Heat to a 99-90 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night.
Tied at 90 with 2:35 left, the Heat (26-12) scored the game's final nine points to seal the victory.
On his 31st birthday, guard Dwayne Wade added 27 points for the Heat.
Kobe Bryant led the Lakers (17-22) with 22 points. Dwight Howard chipped in with 16 points and 16 rebounds.
The Heat ended their six-game road trip with a 3-3 record.
"We closed out the trip the right way, and we want to build from it," James said. "We wanted to do much better, of course, after the way we started, losing to Indiana and Portland."
