Jeter Out with Quad Strain

Robert Rogers/MLB Photos via Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Derek Jeter will miss the Yankees' three-game weekend series vs. the Minnesota Twins after an MRI revealed a Grade 1 strain of the right quadriceps for the Yankees captain, according to Yankee General Manager, Brian Cashman.

"We'll have to give it some time and see how he responds," Cashman said.

Jeter was activated before Thursday's afternoon game vs. the Kansas City Royals. He had missed the first 91 games of the 2013 season after breaking his ankle in the 2012 ALCS, and then re-injurying it in April during his rehabilitation.

With the MLB all-star break beginning Monday, the Yankees first game back to start the second half of the season is Friday, July 19, in Boston.

The Yankees head into Friday's series opener vs. Minnesota at 50-42 on the season.
