Knicks Stomp Spurs

Bruce Bennett/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The New York Knicks sure like playing the San Antonio Spurs.

Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points, J.R. Smith added 20 as the Knicks manhandled the Spurs 100-83 at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night to go 2-0 against San Antonio this year.

The Knicks regained their shooting stroke in a big way, shooting 47 percent, and added 12 threes.

"They shot the hell out of it and I could see it wasn't going to happen," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "Just too low on fuel and their defense was too good. Bad combination, and then they made shots, which makes it even worse."

Amare Stoudemire scored 10 points in his second game of the season back from injury, and the Knicks outscored the Spurs 25-20 in the decisive third quarter.

Tim Duncan had 11 points for the Spurs, but they lost Stephen Jackson to an ankle injury in the first quarter after falling on a waitress serving fans courtside.
