L.A. Angels Trade OF Josh Hamilton to Rangers, Texas) -- The Los Angeles Angels dealt outfielder Josh Hamilton to the Texas Rangers on Monday for a player to be named later or cash considerations. The Halos are expected to pick up most of the $80.2 million remaining on Hamilton’s three-year contract.

The five-time All-Star is currently on the 15-day disabled list, recovering from off-season right shoulder surgery.  During spring training, he informed Major League Baseball officials that he suffered a drug relapse.

“Over the course of the last few weeks, it became clear that Josh wanted to return to Texas,” said Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto. “After several discussions with the Rangers, we were able to complete a trade that in the end is the right decision for everyone involved.”

Hamilton spent five seasons (2008-2012) with the Rangers, where he batted .305 with 142 home runs and 506 RBIs. He was named the American League Most Valuable Player in 2010 after hitting a league-high .359 with 32 homers and 100 RBIs.
