(NEW YORK) -- Although New York Knicks' forward Carmelo Anthony is set to become a free agent this summer, Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant doesn't plan on recruiting him to sign with the Lakers in the offseason.
"All jokes aside, I think that players, when that time comes, will have to make the best decision for them and their families," Bryant said. "I try not to think about it too much. If he wants to call me later for advice as a friend, I will be more than happy to give it to him."
Bryant and Anthony are good friends, and the Lakers are one of the team's that will be able to afford Anthony's services.
It doesn't help that Bryant has appeared in just six games this season and the Lakers are fading in the Western Conference playoff standings.
Anthony is second in the NBA in scoring at 27.1 points per game, but the Knicks are currently one game out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference going into Monday night.
