Lakers' Steve Nash Still Out for At Least Another Two Weeks

NBA via Los Angeles Lakers(NEW YORK) -- As the Lakers continue to struggle on the court, point guard Steve Nash still continues to watch from the sidelines. Nash told USA Today that he thinks he still needs more time to get healthy.

Just two games into the season, Nash fractured his fibula in a collision with Portland Trail Blazers rookie Damian Lillard. Since then, Nash has merely been a spectator.

"I think it will be at least another two weeks," Nash told the paper. "I can move. I can shoot. I just can't run at full speed. And I'm not even in shape. I'll probably need at least a week of practice once I start running."

The Lakers are just 9-12 so far this season, and have yet to live up to the lofty preseason expectations placed on the team after they acquired Nash along with All-Star center Dwight Howard. After a 1-4 start, the team fired Mike Brown as head coach and hired Nash's former coach, Mike D'Antoni, to replace Brown.

"We really haven't had a chance to play together in a new system, and we're trying to fight through that.

Nash played under D'Antoni for five seasons in Phoenix.
