(MIAMI) -- Miami Heat superstar Lebron James told reporters on Wednesday that he wants NBA owners to force owner Donald Sterling to sell the Los Angeles Clippers.
Sterling received a lifetime ban from NBA commissioner Adam Silver on Tuesday and was fined $2.5 million for racist remarks he made about African-Americans during a taped conversation.
“The next step is for the owners to vote and get him to sell the franchise,” James said. “Obviously it’s not going to be easy as night and day. It’s not going to be like that, where we just wake up tomorrow and the team is in someone else’s hand. We need to get the next step going, it can’t be something we just drag on.”
In order for the NBA to force Sterling to sell the team, 75 percent of the league’s teams would have to vote in favor of the action.
