Lions Hire Vince Lombardi's Grandson as Offensive Coordinator

Scott Boehm/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Joe Lombardi, the grandson of legendary NFL head coach Vince Lombardi, was hired by the Detroit Lions as their offensive coordinator Tuesday.

Lombardi served as the New Orleans Saints quarterbacks coach since 2009. During that time Saints quarterback Drew Brees has thrown for 19,661 yards with a 68.1 percent completion percentage, 156 touchdowns and has made the Pro Bowl every season.

Lombardi also served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Mercyhurst College from 2002-2005.

Lombardi attended school at the United States Air Force Academy where he played tight end from 1991 to 1993.
