Los Angeles Galaxy Win MLS Cup
Victor Decolongon/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- The David Beckham era was a success after all for the Los Angeles Galaxy. After a 1-0 victory against the Houston Dynamo, the Galaxy won the MLS cup by the slim margin 1-0. Landon Donovan scored the lone goal of the game after Beckham helped set up the eventual game deciding goal in the 72nd minute.
Beckham joined the Galaxy back in 2007 and the results had been mixed before their MLS Cup Run. Many felt that Beckham, who's contract expired after the win, hadn't been able to justify the team's large financial investment in him. That all changed after the team's MLS Cup.
Beckham feels good knowing he proved some his doubters wrong. "It doesn't matter what happens at the end of the season, people were talking aobut if I didn't win tonight it was going to be a disappointment and not a success for five years," Beckham said. "Its quieted a few people which is always nice."
This is the third MLS Cup for the Galaxy.
