Markakis Activated from the Disabled List

Rob Tringali/MLB Photos via Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The Baltimore Orioles announced Monday that they have activated outfielder Nick Markakis from the 15-day disabled list.

Markakis has been on the DL since June 1 with right hamate bone fracture. It was the first time in the 28-year-old's career that he spent time on the DL.

Markakis is hitting .256, with eight home runs, and 26 RBIs for the season.

To make room for Markakis, the Orioles optioned first baseman Joe Mahoney back to Triple-A Norfolk.
