The 29-year-old Cabrera had a season to remember in 2012, becoming baseball’s first Triple Crown winner since Boston Red Sox outfielder Carl Yastrzemski in 1967. He finished the year with a .330 batting average, 44 home runs and 139 RBIs.

Over in the Senior Circuit, San Francisco’s Buster Posey took home the National League's Most Valuable Player award. He is the first catcher since Johnny Bench in 1972 to achieve the feat.
