Milwaukee Brewers Release LHP Randy Wolf

Brian D. Kersey/Getty Images(MILWAUKEE) -- The Milwaukee Brewers released left-handed starting pitcher Randy Wolf on Wednesday, his 36th birthday.  He will receive the more than $3.5 million that is remaining on his contract.

The 14-year MLB veteran was 3-10 on the season with a 5.69 ERA. He struck out 96 batters in 142 and 1/3 innings of work.

“I’d be surprised if someone didn’t give him a chance,” Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said of Wolf’s chances of landing with another team.

Milwaukee recalled infielder Jeff Bianchi from Triple-A Nashville to take Wolf’s roster spot.
