Missouri Crushes North Carolina, 41-24; Win Independence Bowl

iStockPhoto/Thinkstock(SHREVEPORT, La.) -- The Missouri Tigers (8-5) ended their 2011 season on a high note.  They took care of the North Carolina Tar Heels' (7-6) 41-24 on Monday night in the Independence Bowl.

Missouri quarterback James Franklin ran for two touchdowns and threw for another in the rout.  He also won the MVP award.

Franklin and the rest of the returning Tigers' will be headed to the Southern Eastern Conference next season.

As for the trophy the Tigers' were going to receive; Missouri's mascot, Truman the Tiger, shattered the Independence Bowl trophy before the game started in a pre-game accident.
