(GULLANE, Scotland) -- Tiger Woods will begin his British Open title quest on Thursday afternoon at 2:45 p.m. Woods is the heavy favorite entering the tournament and will be paired with Graeme McDowell and Louis Oozthuizen.
Woods took several weeks off due to an elbow strain but was on the course on Sunday.
"I took a couple of weeks off and that's why I didn't play and I started practicing last week,'' Woods told two reporters while playing the outward nine at Muirfield. "It felt fine. That's one of the reasons I let it heal, so I could go right back at it.''
Fresh off a win at the Scottish Open, Phil Mickelson will play with No. 2 Rory McIlroy and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama, who all tee off at 4:44 a.m. ET on Thursday.
The British Open will take place at Muirfield, site of the Open for the 16th time.
