Ngata: Ray Rice would be "Great Addition" To Lions

National Football League(DETROIT, Mi.) -- Just days after being traded to Detroit, Haloti Ngata has one recommendation to improve the team.

In an interview with WXYT Detroit, Ngata was asked about former Ravens running back Ray Rice and whether he would fit in with Detroit.

"I've never hung out with him off-field, but he's a great guy," Ngata said. "He's a great guy on the field, in the locker room. He's a great community guy. He does a lot for the community, and so of course I think he would be a great addition to this team. I love playing with him, I trusted him. You feel bad for his situation. You just hope nothing but the best for him."

Ngata, Rice's former teammate in Baltimore, was traded to the Lions Tuesday for a fourth and fifth-round pick in upcoming NFL draft.

Rice is currently a free agent after winning an appeal of his indefinite suspension from the NFL.
