Packers Sign Tight End Jermichael Finley to 2-Year Deal

Jamie Squire/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Despite their earlier-than-expected playoff exit at the hands of the New York Giants, the Green Bay Packers established themselves by having one of the most explosive offenses in the entire NFL. In attempt to make sure they continue their aerial assault on the league, they're keeping their offensive core intact. The team has agreed to a two-year $15 million contract with tight end Jermichael Finley.

Finley and the Packers avoided a potenially messy negotiation as Finley was set to become a free agent, and the team was considering using their franchise tag on him, according to reports. Instead, the team has one of the most athletic players at his position locked up for the next two seasons.

"I could not be happier to have the privilege of being a Packer for the next 2 yrs," Finley said on his Twitter account. "Glad to be back with my team & coaches for 1 common goal."

The 24-year-old just finished his fourth season in the NFL. In 2011, Finley caught 55 passes for 767 yards while also scoring eight touchdowns.
