Penguins Ink Eight-Year Extension with Evgeni Malkin

Bruce Bennett/Getty Images(PITTSBURGH) -- A day after locking up coach Dan Bylsma for two more years, the Pittsburgh Penguins agreed to terms with forward Evgeni Malkin on an eight-year $76 million contract extension, the team announced Thursday.

Malkin was held scoreless by the Boston Bruins in the four-game sweep during the Eastern Conference Finals and has 560 career points since being drafted by the team in 2004.

The All-Star is a year removed from taking home the Art Ross Trophy (leading scorer), Hart Trophy (NHL MVP) and Ted Lindsay Award (NHLPA most outstanding player).

The deal will run through the 2021-22 season. He'll earn $9.5 million a year.
