Phil Mickelson Wins At Pebble Beach

WILLIAM WEST/AFP/Getty Images(PEBBLE BEACH, Calif.) -- Phil Mickelson went from being down six shots entering the final round at Pebble Beach to a two-shot lead in just six holes, and closed by going 8-under 64 for a two-shot win over Charlie Wi.

"To put it together this week and especially the final round, it feels terrific," said Mickelson who won for the fourth time at Pebble Beach.  "It gives me a lot of confidence but also inspires me because I believe now even more so that what I am doing in correct and that I am able to play some of my best golf."

With the win, Mickelson became only the ninth player in PGA Tour history with 40 wins.

Tiger Woods finished tied for 15th and has now failed to win a PGA tournament in his last 23 chances.

"It was frustrating, as good as I felt on the greens yesterday was as bad as I felt today," said Woods.  "I could not get comfortable where I could see my lines.  I couldn't get my putter to swing; I just did not get comfortable."

It was the third straight week on tour that the winner started the final round at least six shots behind a 54-hole leader going after his first tour victory.
