Point Guard Baron Davis Joining the Knicks: ESPN

National Basketball Association(NEW YORK) -- In an attempt to improve their back court, the New York Knicks are hoping a former all-star can find the fountain of youth. According to ESPNNewyork.com's Ian Begley, the team will sign former Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Baron Davis. SI.com is also is also reporting that Davis and the Knicks have agreed to a one-year deal worth $2.5 million.

Davis, who was recently let go by the Cavaliers via the amnesty clause, may not be able to play for the Knicks for the foreseeable future. Part of the reason he was let go by the Cavaliers was because of Davis' bad back, which could sideline him for up to 10 weeks.

The 32-year old Davis would replace former starting point guard Chauncey Billups, who was also let go by his team via the amnesty clause. The Knicks used the money they saved on Billups' contract to sign center Tyson Chandler. Davis would presumably be the team's starting point guard when he is healthy and able to play. The Knicks current point guard roster consists of the young and inexperienced Toney Douglas and aging veteran Mike Bibby.
