(NEW YORK) -- Providence (23-11) defeated (14) Creighton (26-7), 65-58 on Saturday night to win the Big East tournament title. It’s the Friars first league championship since 1994.
Providence held Creighton to a season-low 17 points in the first half as they took a nine point lead into half-time.
Senior guard Bryce Cotton led the way for Providence with 23 points and junior forward LaDontae Henton pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds.
Blue Jays senior forward Doug McDermott finished the game with 27 points. He was 10 for 19 from the field, including 5 of 12 from 3-point range.
