Raiders Eliminated from Playoffs

Harry How/Getty Images(OAKLAND, Calif.) -- The Oakland Raiders (8-8) failed to show up at home with their playoff hopes on the line on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers (8-8).

Philip Rivers and the rest of the already eliminated Chargers team took care of the Raiders, 38-26.  Had Oakland won, they would have won the AFC West because the Denver Broncos (8-8) lost to the Kansas City Chiefs (7-9).

Despite 417 passing yards and two touchdown passes from Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer, his defense was unable to make the big stops when they needed to.

"To find out it worked out the way you needed it to and to lose this one," said Palmer.  "It's going to be a long offseason."

It's been an up and down season all year long for Oakland.

"It's unfortunate, I thought this team was ready to take the next step," said Raiders head coach Hue Jackson.  "Didn't get it done, it's my responsiblilty so I understand that and I'm pissed to say the least."
