Rams Trade Running Back Zac Stacy to the Jets

Scott Boehm/Getty Images(FLORHAM PARK, N.J.) -- Zac Stacy got his wish. Just days after requesting a trade, the St. Louis Rams traded the running back to the New York Jets for a seventh-round draft pick.

"We thought the idea of bringing Zac in for that kind of investment would be very beneficial and increase the competition at that position," Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan said. "He's had success in the league. Two years ago, he was close to a 1,000-yard back. This past season, his production wasn't quite as high, but we do think he's a good-caliber running back."

The Rams selected running back Todd Gurley tenth overall in the draft this past Thursday, prompting Stacy to simply tweet "Yikes." Less than 24 hours after, the tweet had been deleted, but reports had surfaced that Stacy requested a trade.

Stacy now goes from one crowded backfield to another. Stacy will join running backs Stevan Ridley, Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, and Daryl Richardson in New York.
