(ARLINGTON, Texas) -- The Texas Rangers agreed to a four-year, $12.5 million contract with left-handed pitcher Martin Perez Thursday.
The deal also includes three team option years from 2018-2020.
"I don't ever want to forget this day," Perez said at a news conference. "This is the most important day of my life. I want to thank the Rangers organization for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to stay here for at least four more years. I want to stay here my entire career. I'm still going to be the same person. I want to do my best and help this team compete for the World Series."
Perez, 22, started 20 games for the Rangers last season compiling a 10-6 record, with a 3.62 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP.
