Ravens Hire Kubiak as Offensive Coordinator

Bob Levey/Getty Images(OWINGS MILLS, Md.) -- The Baltimore Ravens hired Gary Kubiak as the team's offensive coordinator on Monday. Kubiak, the former Houston Texans head coach, is the third different offensive coordinator in the last 13 months for the Ravens.

"It gives me a chance to be a part of a championship organization," said Kubiak at his introductory press conference. "For me to get back to work...I can't tell you how excited I am." The 52-year-old spent almost eight seasons as the head coach in Houston before being let go in December.

Kubiak is the third offensive coordinator hired by head coach John Harbaugh. Baltimore finished 29th in the NFL in total yards, the worst ranking in eight years for the team. During his time in Houston, Kubiak led the Texans to consecutive playoff appearances in 2011 and 2012. The team's offense also ranked in the top-10 four times in the last six seasons.

Kubiak suffered a "mini-stroke" on Nov. 3 at halftime of the Texans' loss to Indianapolis but has said that there have been no concerns about his medical condition.
